Salih Kartal,

President

Salih Kartal is a Turkish-qualified lawyer with over seven years of experience at top-tier Turkish law firms, specializing in international arbitration, M&A, and shareholder disputes. He has worked on institutional and ad hoc arbitration cases involving multinational corporations and state entities, and has litigated both commercial and administrative disputes. He is currently pursuing an LL.M. at Georgetown Law as an International Arbitration Scholar.

Elena Gillis Cintrano,
LL.M. '26

Vice-President

Elena is a Spanish-qualified lawyer currently pursuing an LL.M. in International Legal Studies as an International Arbitration Scholar. Prior to joining Georgetown, she was a mid-level associate at a leading Spanish law firm, where she represented multinational companies, sovereign states and state entities in international commercial and investment arbitration, international litigation and enforcement proceedings. She also has academic experience, having taught in several leading universities, and has working knowledge in both civil law and common law.

Alejandro Tafur,

Treasurer

Alejandro Tafur is a Peruvian lawyer specialized in arbitration, corporate and contractual law. He worked for over seven years at one of Peru’s leading law firms, where he represented clients in complex international and domestic arbitrations, as well as in M&A and other corporate and contractual matters. He is currently pursuing an LL.M. in International Business and Economic Law at Georgetown University Law Center, together with a certificate in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution.

Tianzhi Wang, a Chinese national, is currently an LLM candidate in International Business and Economic Law at Georgetown University Law Center. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from KoGuan School of Law, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and has one year of experience in international arbitration, having trained with a law firm in Shanghai.

Aditya is an Indian qualified lawyer and is currently pursuing his LL.M. at Georgetown University as a Merit Scholar, with a specialisation in International Business and Economic Law, along with a certificate in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution. Aditya holds two years of work experience in the practice of derivatives and project financing, involving renewables and the energy sector. He has worked with globally renowned multinational corporations as a legal counsel.

Pratik is an Indian-qualified disputes lawyer with seven years’ experience in international arbitrations and cross-border disputes across Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America. He was a former Principal Associate at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. (Chambers and Partners Band 1). His sector experience spans TMT, infrastructure & energy, finance & private equity, healthcare, hospitality, agriculture, and biotechnology. Pratik chairs the Editorial Board of Law, Practice and Procedure of Arbitration in India (Prof. Sundra Rajoo; Thomson Reuters), now in its 2nd edition. He is currently pursuing an LL.M. at Georgetown Law as a Merit Scholar.

Mateo Escueta,

Mateo is a Filipino lawyer with experience in litigation and corporate law. He is a tribunal secretary certified by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), a mentee of the Young ICCA Mentoring Programme (11th Cycle, Professor Joongi Kim), and an associate in the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators (PIArb). Mateo, a Merit Scholar, is pursuing an LL.M. at Georgetown Law with a certificate in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution with a long-term mission: to strengthen Philippine arbitration policy by harmonizing international best practices with sovereignty. Most recently, his article, “Paradigm Shift: Investor Due Diligence and Third-Party Illegality,” was published in ICSID Review—Foreign Investment Law Journal.

Juan Mazariegos,

Juan Antonio Mazariegos Puertas is a Guatemalan lawyer specialized in arbitration.  He developed some of the first ultra-low-cost arbitration proceedings in Latin America and leads one of Central America’s foremost institutions as Director of the Centro de Arbitraje IBT. He has served as Head Coach of the Vis Moot team at Central America’s largest private university for 4 years and has been an invited speaker at universities from Argentina to South Korea.

He worked as an Associate in the arbitration and litigation practice of a top-tier Indian law firm, where he represented leading companies in complex arbitration and commercial litigation matters. His experience includes high-value disputes in the construction sector as well as contentious intellectual property proceedings. He is currently pursuing an LL.M. with a certificate in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution as a Merit Scholar, further deepening his expertise in cross-border dispute resolution.

Blanca María Beltran,

Arbitration Month: Lead Organizer

Blanca is a Colombian-qualified lawyer currently pursuing an LL.M. in International Legal Studies at Georgetown University as an International Arbitration Scholar. Before joining Georgetown, she served for over five years as a senior associate at a leading Ibero-American law firm, where she represented multinational companies and state entities in international and domestic commercial arbitrations, as well as in investment treaty disputes, across sectors such as construction, public concessions, oil & gas, and entertainment. She has also appeared before Colombian courts in proceedings to recognize and set aside arbitral awards, and in constitutional injunctions against awards. Blanca was also an adjunct professor of international arbitration at a leading university in Bogotá.

Daniela Walteros-Rivera is a Colombian qualified lawyer with an LL.B. and a Master in International Law from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, and she is currently pursuing an LL.M. at Georgetown University Law Center, along with the International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Certificate. She has six years of professional experience focused on international and domestic arbitration and infrastructure law. In Bogotá, she worked primarily at Rincón Castro Abogados, where she advised clients in complex, high-value arbitration proceedings involving infrastructure, energy, and commercial disputes, representing both national and international companies.

Marc Morros Bo, a Spanish national, is pursuing an LL.M. in International Legal Studies at Georgetown Law as a Manuel Olivencia Scholar. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Esade Law School, with exchanges at Columbia Law and the University of St. Gallen. He has two years of international arbitration experience across academia (research assistant to Professors George A. Bermann and Kabir Duggal), counsel (training at two GAR-100 ranked firms in Spain and the Netherlands), and arbitrator (clerk at Armesto Dispute Resolution).
